2023 Election: Atiku promises to end incessant strike if elected

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has pledged to work with university authorities to end the incessant strikes, which he claims have caused unacceptable harm to Nigerian children’s ability to receive a quality education.

Atiku revealed this in a statement at a youth program with the theme “Intergenerational Synergy in Government” organized by the PDP on the occasion of the celebration of the International Youth Day 2022 in Abuja on Friday.

Atiku said the government’s inability to resolve the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike would not happen under his administration if he were elected president in the next general election.

He said: “I want to promise that I will work with university authorities and the government to ensure we end these incessant ASUU strikes. “That’s because education is fundamental to our growth. It doesn’t matter whether you work in politics, business or any other industry. The fundamental right of every young person or citizen is to receive an education. “It is therefore the responsibility of every responsible government to ensure that this right is granted to all Nigerians”.

Atiku also promised to give young people the opportunity to gain the education and experience to take over older generations. He called on the youth to support the PDP in taking over the government in 2023 and to save the youth and the nation.

“I believe that the PDP offers you the best platform to realize your individual’s collective and national aspirations,” he said.
