Boko Haram Abducts Passengers on Maiduguri-Kano Highway

An unspecified number of passengers were reportedly abducted by gunmen believed to be Boko Haram terrorists along the Maiduguri-Kano highway.

Sources indicated that the attackers blocked the road between Garin Kuturu and Mannanari village near Auno, on the Damaturu highway, around 5:50 PM on Monday.

This incident left many travelers and commuters stranded on both sides of the busy route.

A source confirmed, “There was an incident between Mannanari and Garin Kuturu where some Boko Haram fighters blocked the oncoming vehicles and abducted some passengers. The exact number of abductees is still unknown.”

This attack follows a similar incident in February when Boko Haram insurgents ambushed vehicles near Mahdiya village in Gujba local government area of Yobe State, kidnapping numerous passengers and killing one person.
