Zambia Sacks Information Minister Chusi Kasanda

Chushi Kasanda, the information Minister for Zambia, has been fired by President Hakainde Hichilema, who announced the mini-cabinet reshuffle on Monday.

Cornelius Mweetwa, a minister and spokesperson for the ruling United Party for National Development, took Ms. Kasanda’s post.

Ron Mwambwa was also appointed by President Hichilema as the nation’s auditor general.

The president’s “ongoing efforts to enhance governance, improve service delivery, and promote national development in Zambia” were stated to be reflected in the adjustments, according to a statement from the presidency.

Meanwhile, Former president Edgar Lungu’s weekly public jogging has been prohibited by the Zambia Police Force because it was deemed “political activism.”

Former president Lungu has started going for walks on Saturdays with members of the public and PF party supporters.

Recently, the Saturday jogs have drawn more notice, and the police have ordered that he get permission before any more jogs.

This information comes amid rumors that Lungu, who declared his desire to leave politics after losing the 2021 race, may run for president in 2026.
